end of first semester

Exams are finally over! I'm loving this break. So here are a few updates:

- I turned 19 on Saturday! Had a great birthday! :) Felt like it lasted extra long this year. I started getting birthday wishes and presents before my birthday...and they ended only on Monday. Haha...feel pretty blessed. Also had a bunch of people over for dinner / to hang out on Saturday night - they got me this super cool digital photoframe inscripted with Isaiah 54:10 and 'Happy 19th Mel'...it also plays music and videos!! And I mean...good quality visuals and sound. :) Yeah, it's pretty sweet...

- I'll be keeping busy these hols! Met up with Ally today, having lunch with church people tomorrow, going for camp meeting and bluesky on Friday, Studentlife party on Saturday, church and more meetings on Sunday... I guess for now it's just worship band pracs and stuff cos I'm singing/playing keys at camp!

- Upon finishing exams (yesterday afternoon) I actually had this strange feeling of aimlessness...like...'now what do I do?' Haha...well...after meeting Ally today I spent the rest of my day curled up on the couch with a new CD playing and a new book in my hands! The CD being Shane and Shane's Psalms and the book being Captivating by John and Stasi Eldridge. I really ought to organise my reading a bit more...I'm currently reading a few other books at the same time: Prayer by Philip Yancey, Orthodoxy by GK Chesterton and Shopping for Time by [four authors]. I guess they're just different kinds of books that appeal to me depending on what mood I'm in. :P

- Lately I've been extra blessed by friendship with these girls: Izzy and Ally. :) So something that was touched upon in 'Shopping for Time' is the value in friends who constantly encourage and challenge you, who sharpen you even as you do the same for them, like iron sharpens iron. Nowadays our friendships don't have as much 'spurring on to love and good deeds' as they should...it definitely is refreshing to experience...
